الأوراق مركبة، و الأزهار في مجاميع مركبة أيضا ذات لون أبيض والنورات خيمية، ويتميز المقدونس برائحته العطرية النفاذة وأوراقه الخضراء الزاهية، ومن أنواعه البلدي الأملس والأفرنجي المجعد. ويمكن الحصول على زيت المقدونس من البذور.
